Spread the love

The essay differs from many other students works in “freedom of creativity”. Alas, we all know the more freedom, the more responsibility. Obtaining this very freedom, you must think through the structure of the future essay yourself. The structure depends on the goals, form, type, amount of work. The essay-narration will begin with a plot, the essay-illustration – with one or several theses. Essays like “causal analysis” will have to be built in accordance with the outline of an essay. And nothing else.

Make an outline for an essay

Any written work, any text has:

Introduction

By “introduction” and “conclusion” you can mean the first and last paragraph. Formal treatment of these elements of the text should not be. The first paragraph or the first part of the text introduces the reader to the course of the matter, brings him to the problem, which is devoted to the essay. You do not need a long introduction – one or two paragraphs will be quite enough.

Main part

The main part requires the most attention. Especially when making a plan. It may have a different structure:

Thesis-argument, thesis-argument, thesis-argument, etc. In this case, first fix the thought, then prove it;

Reverse structure (fact-finding). We describe the situation or give the facts, we conclude. And so – several times.

Thesis and several arguments (facts). In this case, we confirm one thought with several illustrations. The thesis can be both at the beginning and after these illustrations.

By “thesis” we mean a short complete thought that the author wants to convey to the reader of the essay. Under the argument – some proof of the thesis. This may be a life situation, news, opinion of a scientist, a scientific theory or a fact proven by science.

Ideally, one thesis should confirm two arguments. One reader may seem inconclusive, and three will overload the text. However, you are free to bring any number of arguments to your thesis – much depends on the very thought, the logic of the narration, the volume, the plan of the text. It is important to preserve the consistency, brevity, and imagery of the text.

Conclusion

In conclusion, as a rule, they summarize everything that was said in the essay. The author together with the reader summarizes. It is important that the conclusions are not contrived and do not arise “out of nowhere.” In conclusion – only what the reader should come to, having familiarized with the main part of your work.
